THE SUPERNATURAL VOICE

And he came thither unto a cave, and lodged there; and, behold, the word of the Lord came to him, and he said unto him, What doest thou here, Elijah?

1 Kings 19:9 KJV

The prophet Elijah challenged King Ahab to prove if his god was true. The prophets of Baal set up their altar, called on their god in vain and found no response even after an entire day's effort. But when Elijah prayed, God answered him with fire from above that consumed everything- the burnt offering, the wood , the stones and even the water in the trench.The people acknowledged and celebrated the God of Elijah who answered with fire. When Jezebel heard that Elijah killed all the 450 prophets of Baal, she sought to kill him, and the very same Elijah, the prophet filled with boldness, fled and hid himself in a cave.

This is the same powerful man of God who heard the voice of the Lord and stood before King Ahab and declared with authority that there would be no rain except by his command. In another instance, Elijah obeyed the voice of the Lord and went and lived by the brook Cherith amidst the drought, believing in God his provider with no hesitation. God commanded the ravens to bring him bread and meat everyday at the right time without delay. When we heed the voice of the Lord, money and financial opportunities come searching for us at the right time without delay. Our God provides all our needs according to His riches in Glory. He obeyed the voice of the Lord once again and went to Zarephath, where Elijah became a blessing to the widow, who thought she and her son were going to die that night due to lack! He was bold as a fearless roaring lion and had continous victory everywhere he went.

But when he heard Jezebel say , "So let the gods do to me, and more also, if I make not thy life as the life of one of them by to morrow about this time", and heeded to this voice , he was afraid and ran for his life.

When you hear the voice of the Lord , there is faith, boldness and joy. On the contrary, if the voice you are heeding to brings fear, worry and sorrow, it is NOT the voice of God. Satan doesn't come with the obvious warning that it is him. But he uses the personal pronoun "I" and traps us with fear, accusations and shame! The devil comes to steal, kill and destroy but the Son of Man came to save and give life in abundance!

It is very crucial we learn to discern the voice that is leading us to live a victorious life! The Lord's voice brings joy, peace and gladness. We have to make the conscious decision for ourselves to avoid the voice of the enemy. The only way to silence the voice of the enemy is to speak right back to those negative thoughts with the Sword of the spirit which is the spoken word of the Living God and bring every thought captive to the Obedience of Christ!
